Supporting Children with Special Needs through Individualization

This interactive half-day training is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of early care and education staff in individualizing the curriculum to include young children with disabilities. Participants will have an opportunity to explore how a cycle of observations and documentation, reflection, and planning can build on the strengths and address the learning needs of all children, including children with disabilities.

Participants will:

  • Review a system for using observations, documentation, and reflections to create and implement individualized learning plans
  • Explore strategies for individualizing for children with special needs in the context of daily routines and activities
  • Identify strategies for partnering with families and other providers in developing individualized plans
